A Memorable Welcome and Farewell Program at National College of Food Science and Technology
On the beautiful Friday morning of Shrawan 18, 2081, the National College of Food Science and Technology hosted a memorable Welcome and Farewell Program at the elegant Lord Palace in Tokha. The event, which began precisely at 9:45 AM, was a day filled with joy, celebration, and poignant farewells.
The program kicked off with the traditional Aashan Grahan ceremony, where khadas were presented, and guests were introduced to the new and outgoing batches. The national anthem followed, with everyone standing in solemn pride as its powerful notes filled the room. This was succeeded by the deep prajjwolan ceremony, symbolizing the light of knowledge and unity.
Raynuca Karki, a talented second-year B.Tech Food student, delivered a heartfelt welcome speech. The mood was further uplifted by a dynamic welcome dance performed by nine second-year students, setting a vibrant tone for the day's events.

Attendees were then treated to stunning dance performances by two different groups. The routines were so captivating that they left the audience with wide eyes and open mouths. The excitement continued as Dr. Madhav Prasad Baral, the campus chief and founder of National College, distributed khadas to both the freshers and the outgoing students.
Mr. Rakesh Kusma, the always-smiling and approachable Head of Department, gave an inspiring speech filled with words of wisdom. Dr. Baral returned to the stage to present awards and prizes, celebrating exceptional achievements.
In an emotional segment, fourth-year B.Tech Food students Susmita Chaudhary and Pramila Chaulagain shared their memorable college experiences, leaving a lasting impact on the audience. Dr. Baral’s motivational speech reiterated the importance of setting goals and working diligently, reminding everyone that success requires hard work rather than shortcuts.
The day continued with a delightful lunch break, where students, faculty, and guests enjoyed a delicious meal and dessert, followed by a photo and video session to capture the day's special moments.
The post-lunch session featured an exhilarating band performance by the farewell batch, including Khagendra, Biswas, and Jeevan. Their energetic performance had everyone, including teachers and staff, dancing and reveling in the fun.
The program proceeded with heartfelt reflections from Aakanshya and Jeevan of the farewell batch. The festivities included a series of vibrant performances such as Newari and Maruni dances, poetry readings, and a talent show. Freshers also took part in a lively game, adding to the event's spirited atmosphere.
Mr. Navaraj Heka, Assistant Campus Chief and Chairman, distributed tokens of appreciation to the outgoing batch, and the program concluded with more spectacular dance performances, showcasing the college's lively spirit.
Jigyasha Poudel, a fourth-year B.Tech Food student, delivered a touching farewell speech, reflecting on the past four years. As tokens of love were distributed, emotions ran high. Saying goodbye to classmates and friends after four years is never easy, but it marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Finally, Mr. Navaraj Heka delivered a closing speech that perfectly encapsulated the day’s essence.
As the event wrapped up at 5 PM, the farewell batch bid a heartfelt adieu to their college life. The day celebrated the bonds formed and experiences shared, with students exchanging emotional hugs and tears.
We extend our heartfelt wishes to both the incoming and outgoing batches for their future endeavors. Your future success depends on the choices you make and the paths you choose. The entire NIST community will always be there to support and guide you.
As we look forward to the future, we wish all our students the best in their journeys ahead.
